Dear Parents,

We are having an “Open House” tonight, Wednesday, February 10 from 5:00-7:00, and we are inviting anyone interested in having their children attend Sacred Heart to come by and have a look at our school.  Also, do not forget the family music concert at 7:00 pm with Lowry Olafson that follows the Open House.  Proceeds from the concert will benefit the “Free the Children” project.

Our season of Lent is nearing and we remind all our students to get their ashes on February 17 – “from dust we have come and to dust we shall return”.

The school will be closed from February 15 to February 26 to enjoy the Olympic Games.  We will re-open on Monday, March 1.  Confirmation will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 7:00 pm. (See the item below under Parish News for more details.)

"Excellent 1st tournament at VC, this past weekend, for our Grade 5 boys' basketball team. An amazing effort was given by all the players who fought hard in all three games. Although they did not win the tournament, I believe our boys did Sacred Heart School proud.  They improved and learned throughout the games. The players and supporting family and friends all had a great time cheering on their team. I was honoured to be coaching and could not have been more proud of their effort and team spirit.  Coach Ed.

Hockey Night in Jamaica:  The Yingling family will be travelling to Jamaica over the Olympic Break.  As part of their trip they are planning to visit local schools and an orphanage which are in desperate need of school supplies (such as pencils, pens, flashcards, crayons, notebooks, puzzles, rulers, construction paper, glue sticks, children’s scissors, etc…) and toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, small containers of shampoo, soap, hair brushes, combs, etc…).  The 3 Yingling boys (Jack, Mark and Max) have come up with the slogan, “Hockey night in Jamaica,” to raise awareness of this project.  If you are interested in donating items please place them in the hockey bag that will be located in the foyer of the school by Wednesday, February 10 The family will ensure that this bag gets to the right people by delivering it to them in person.  They will return with pictures and video clips, available to view on the web site, to show you how your donations made a difference.  For more information on this project please visit www.hockeynightinjamaica.com
