Dear Parents,
The students are starting to count down the days now – if only the weather would co-operate. After much discussion with the teachers regarding the Principal’s Awards, I have decided not to go forward with the awards for this year and we will look at alternative programs for next year. As we will be celebrating our Feast Day on June 14, there will be no school that day and our Play Day will be on June 18. Hopefully we will not be able to find a “Dunk Tank”. Again, thank you parents for all the volunteer hours and for all that you do for Sacred Heart and its staff.

Dinner Dance Auction Meeting: Due to unforeseen circumstances, last night’s meeting had to be cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please mark your calendars. The meeting has been re-scheduled to Wednesday, June 16 at 7 pm in the parish centre classroom (band room). Once again, we welcome all families interested in helping with this fundraiser to join us – we will be providing more information about the event as well as identifying the many volunteer opportunities that are available. We look forward to seeing you there.
Track & Field: Congratulations to the Sacred Heart Track & Field team for finishing 3rd overall out of 35 schools at the CISVA Track and Field Meet. The students represented our school really well in so many positive ways, through their hard work, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Thanks also to all the parents who helped out during the meet in some way. It is greatly appreciated and you helped make things run smoothly.
Track & Field Awards Ceremony: As a reminder, this Thursday, June 10 at 2:20 pm, we will be having an awards ceremony for those students who earned a ribbon or a medal at the CISVA meet. We will also acknowledge every student who was involved in track and field this year by having them take a bow at some point during the ceremony.
Thank you to all who have volunteered to help at Play Day on Friday, June 18th. Volunteer positions are currently being assigned and volunteers will receive an email in the next few days confirming their assignments.
Math Awards: Please come join us on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 9 am in the school gym. We will be celebrating the achievements of all the students who participated in this year’s Grade 4, 5, 6 and 7 math contests. As well we will be awarding bronze, silver and gold medals to those students in each contest who achieved the highest scores in our school.
Grade 5 Parents: The Sign-up sheets have been found and will be in place in the lobby of the school tomorrow so that you may volunteer for the Gr. 7 Farewell Reception that will be held on Monday, June 28 from 7:00 pm onwards. Contact Angela Ford at angelavford@gmail.com if you have any questions.

The Rite Of Christian Initiation of Adults - RCIA - is a formation process for those thinking about joining the Catholic Church. It is a spiritual journey consisting of four stages with ceremonies along the way.
This formation process covers the teachings of the Church and Catholic practices. Every year adults throughout the world are welcomed into the Catholic Community through the RCIA. At Sacred Heart Parish in Delta the RCIA begins every October and consists of weekly, Thursday gatherings (7:30 to 9:00 PM). Watermania Extravaganza is a “Thank You” party for Altar Servers, Children’s Church Choir members and young Sunday readers. It will take place on Tuesday, June 22, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Watermania. Registration forms, available through your leader or below, need to be submitted to the program’s leader before June 15. This event is just a sign of recognition and appreciation for those who faithfully served our parish during the last 10 months. There will be food served during this event and we would appreciate it if parents would alert us about their child’s food allergies.
