Dear Parents,

The end of the school year is getting close and our weather is getting worse.  Playday will be this Friday with dismissal at 12:15.  Please make arrangements for early pick up.  The “Dunk Tank,” as promised as part of the students achieving their Walkathon goal, will be from around 11:15 to 12:00 by the school gym.  The Montreal Canadiens parking lot attendant and his sidekick, Serge, will be the feature dunkees.  Let’s hope that his cold does not reappear that day.  Let’s have fun and please contact the school if you have any questions.

God Bless,

Wendell MacCormack

Principal

Attention Grade 5 parents:  All Grade 5 families are responsible for providing baked goods for the Grade 7 Farewell dessert.  Sign up sheets are included in the binder outside the school office.  If you are unable to come into the school, please e-mail deirdre_bostock@dccnet.com and she will sign you up for your choice of bars, cookies, tarts, brownies, etc.  All baked goods should be dropped off in the school kitchen before 4:00 pm on Monday, June 28.  Thank you.

Dinner Dance Auction Meeting: Tonight at 7 pm in the parish centre classroom (band room).  Once again, we welcome all families interested in helping with this fundraiser to join us – we will be providing more information about the event as well as identifying the many volunteer opportunities that are available.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Play Day: Friday, June 18th.  Thank you to all those who volunteered to help.  As usual, we had a terrific response and had far more volunteers than roles to fill.  As a result, everyone who is needed to help on Friday has now been contacted.

Math Awards:  Please join us on Monday, June 21 at 9:00 am in the school gym.  We will be celebrating the achievements of all the students who participated in this year’s Grade 4, 5, 6 and 7 math contests.  As well we will be awarding bronze, silver and gold medals to those students in each contest who achieved the highest scores in our school.

Library / Computer Lab:  Please be advised that the school library and computer lab will be undergoing some renovations over the next few weeks; the computer lab is being expanded to allow a full class to work in the same room while the library bookshelves will be moved slightly to accommodate the new wall.  As a result, these areas will not be accessible to students starting on Monday, June 21st.   Temporary arrangements will need to be made for those students who are dropped off before 8:30am or picked up after 3:00pm as they will not be supervised.

Library Books: As the end of the school year is fast approaching we would like to collect all books that have been checked out from the school library.  Notices will be sent home over the next few days to remind students of the books they have checked out. Please help your child locate and return these books as soon as possible, or kindly pay your fines if you are unable to locate the books.  Thank you for your support.

Yearbook Orders:  The order forms will be emailed home and available on the web site in the next few days.  They must be returned by Wednesday, June 23 with payment attached.  Yearbooks cost $20 each and will be distributed to students in early September.

Maintenance: we are in need of six parent volunteers during early July for the following project in the school- placing the student desks and chairs back into the classrooms from the hallways after the floors have been cleaned (approx. July 6 & 7).  Please call Barry at 319-4740 to register your name.  The time will count for hours.

Lost: sweater, pull over style, with principal award attached and labeled with Asha Mior.  Please return it to the office if you have it at home in error.
